Specialty Symposium: NP Leadership and Advocacy Forum

Join us in Washington, D.C!

NAPNAP's NP Leadership and Advocacy Forum will be hosted in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 3 from 8 a.m.-5:40 p.m. at Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill. The forum is offered in conjunction with the Chapter and SIG Summit on Nov. 2.

Course Description

The Nurses on Boards Coalition has stated, and NAPNAP agrees, that all boards benefit from the unique perspective of nurses to achieve the goals of improved health and efficient and effective health care systems at the local, state and national levels. Whether your goal is to serve on a national board, regional taskforce, hospital leadership committee or other type of practice or non-profit leadership team, this is your opportunity to fill your leadership toolbox with skills you will need to make an impact.

Participants of NAPNAP’s NP Leadership and Advocacy Forum will:

  • hear from nurse leaders with experience convincing organizational leadership about the importance of involving nurses and convincing nurses that there is no better time to become involved
  • identify their personal and professional strategic plan and leadership style
  • increase their understanding of multigenerational differences and leadership styles that are most successful with each generation
  • build awareness of NP Workforce issues, including NP shortages and diversity and inclusion
  • engage with an expert media trainer, learning tips to create strong, clear media messages to build awareness in a very visible way with media and other stakeholders
  • support individual and collective efforts in a working community that consists of different professions
  • incorporate opportunities for NP students to begin filling their leadership toolbox while still in school
  • review quality metrics and benchmarks for provision of pediatric health care
