Interpreting Pediatric Labs and Radiographs Course Description

Presented by Rita Marie John, EdD, DNP, CPNP, PMHS and Deanna Schneider, DNP, CPNP-PC

Diagnostic Labs session is designed to improve the use of diagnostic testing for the pediatric-focused APRN. Using cases from clinical practice, participants will determine which lab tests are or are not helpful in establishing a diagnosis. Radiographs play an integral role in diagnosis and management in the pediatric patient. With training and practice, you will learn to recognize radiographic patterns and distinguish normal versus abnormal presentations. You will learn a systematic method to assess and interpret pediatric radiographs, CT scans, MRI and ultrasound. We will end the day with diagnostic testing and interpretation case studies to test the knowledge you've gained at the symposium.

Registration fees: NAPNAP preferred member - $175; NAPNAP essentials member or nonmember- $225. If you register after Aug. 24, 2019, the price will increase by $20 so register early and save.

  • 2:30-4 p.m.—Interpretation of the Radiographs - Part 2
  • 4-5 p.m.—Diagnostic Testing and Interpretation Case Studies

Parking is available at 11th Street Underground Ramp that is located under the hotel. The fee is $13 for the day (without in and out access) or $8 if you park during the “Early Bird” rate before 9 a.m. and then out within 10-12 hours. 

Getting to Minneapolis

United Airlines extends a discount to symposia participants traveling between Sept. 9-19, 2019, to Minneapolis. Book online at www.united.com. Be sure to use the All search option in the book travel section so that you can enter code in the promotions and certificates box at the bottom of the page to receive the discount. The event code is ZGXN539666. You cannot use the code once in the payment section. The discount code cannot be used in conjunction with other discounts.

Getting Downtown

NAPNAP had partnered with SuperShuttle that will provide discounted airport transportation from the airport to Hilton Minneapolis. The discounted cost for round trip is $24 per person and one way is $15 per person. The discount only applies to reservations made through NAPNAP special portal.

You can also get downtown by traveling on Light Rail that is accessible from both the Humphrey and Lindbergh Terminals at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. Follow signage towards “ground transportation”. Route 55 services downtown and runs every 7.5 minutes during rush hour and 10-15 minutes during non-rush hour. Travel time is approximately 25 minutes and fares vary between $1.75 - $2.25. Proceed to the Nicollet Mall Station (5th Street & Nicollet). Walk 5 blocks down to 10th Street. Hotel is located on corner of 11th Street and Marquette Avenue.

Things to Do

September is a great time to explore Minneapolis - by foot, Segway, bike or boat. Plan to visit Paisley Park, the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, the Bell Museum or any of the city's many attractions. Explore Minneapolis the way it was meant to be explored – through multiple outfit changes. With plenty of boutiques and the biggest mall in North America you will have a chance to do some tax-free shopping. 

If you're a music lover, there are numerous venues to enjoy live music and dancing, including the world famous First Avenue. Minneapolis offers a wide variety of dining options to please every palate. 

Plan to spend a long weekend in the area so you can explore the city and some of the 10,000 lakes in Minnesota.

Refund Policy

We will refund your registration fees if we receive your cancellation in writing via mail, fax or email before Sept. 7, 2019. We cannot accept telephone cancellations. A $30 administrative fee will apply to all refunds.

Cancellation Policy

If NAPNAP finds it necessary to cancel this event for any reason including, but not limited to, registration responses, strikes or acts of God, liability shall be limited to a full refund of registration fees. Notification of a canceled event will be sent at least 10 days prior to the conference starting date, when possible. Registration refund will be processed within 15 days after event date.
