The National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners is excited to invite you to a new virtual event, Pediatric Symposium: 2020 Targeted Topics on October 16.
With our easy-to-use virtual platform, Pediatric Symposium: 2020 Targeted Topics lets you focus your learning from your home or office. Spend your day in one of four virtual symposium tracks or move around throughout the day to customize your learning experience to your clinical needs. Whichever you choose, you’ll be able to return until the end of the year to catch up on all of the sessions you want to take and earn more than 25 CE contact hours, including over 10 contact hours of pediatric pharmacology, for one low registration fee.
Don’t worry if you can’t join us live on October 16. The entire event of timely, evidence-based continuing education developed by experts in the field will be there when you are ready to access the on-demand event. All sessions will be accessible during the virtual symposium and on-demand until December 31, 2020.
All prescribing NPs will benefit from this inclusive update and review of new information from the FDA related to prescribing for children. This day of fast paced, practice-based pharmacology will include a review of current treatment guidelines for common pediatric conditions that require a medication to be prescribed. Our expert faculty, Dr. Teri Moser Woo, will lead an extensive review and provide an improved understanding of therapeutic benefits and risks, including efficacy, safety and prescribing recommendations with individual presentations related to respiratory, GI, immunizations, antibiotics, antivirals and nutraceuticals used with children.
Dr. Garzon Maaks will cover an evidence-based discussion of the common medications used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety and depression. She will discuss diagnostic criteria for ADHD, anxiety, autism and explosive anger disorder; the guidelines for screening and diagnosis; and discussion of the pharmacologic therapies that reduce core symptoms of the conditions. This track will also focus on prescribing considerations for children with intellectual disabilities (ID) and developmental disabilities (DD), racial/ethnic disparities in mental health and suicide and attempted suicide implications for hospital-based pediatric-focused APRNs.
Adolescent Health Track
Explore important topics in adolescent health care including STIs, e-cigarettes/vaping, anxiety/depression, menstrual management, SBIRT and eating disorders. Our presenting experts will share the latest in evidence-based information and practice tools.
Dermatology and Pediatric Updates Track (offered with the support of the Arizona Chapter)
The dermatology presentations in this track will discuss the latest in eczema, care of sensitive skin, acne guidelines and referral to pediatric dermatology. Engage in a review of appropriate referrals to pediatric specialty care related to ENT, Neurology, Palliative care and Allergy/immunology. Here is what some of our 2020 National Conference on Pediatric Health Care virtual participants had to say:
This was a wonderful conference platform; very easy to use with good quality audio.
Very easy to navigate sessions and conference links! Very good quality audio and enjoyed seeing the visual of the speakers! Able to access other sessions for CE after the virtual conference!
I loved the format b/c I didn't feel rushed and I didn't miss any sessions that I wanted to see.
