Empowering Pediatric Nurses Globally
The National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) aims to optimize the health and well-being of all infants, children, and adolescents globally. In order to advance its global health vision, NAPNAP is partnering with TruMerit (formerly CGFNS International) through an ambitious initiative to develop the first global pediatric micro-credential. This groundbreaking program aims to set a consistent, globally recognized standard for pediatric health care delivery, regardless of borders, geography or income levels.
To help make this possible, we invited pediatric nursing subject matter experts from all world regions to contribute to the development of this essential micro-credential. Together, our expertise can help shape the future of pediatric health care delivery and ensure every nurse, anywhere, is empowered to deliver safe, competent, and developmentally appropriate care to infants, children and adolescents.
Why it Matters Now
Across the globe, children’s health is threatened by rising provider shortages, conflict, climate change and fragmented standards in nurse training. These systemic gaps have left pediatric populations — especially in underserved and lower-income regions— without access to the care they need. At the same time, the mobility of nurses trained in pediatric care is hindered by a lack of credential portability and global recognition.
As the only U.S.-based professional association solely focused on pediatric advanced practice nursing, NAPNAP is committed to addressing these challenges. Our partnership with TruMerit, a trusted global leader in health workforce development, is designed to create a portable, psychometrically sound micro-credential that validates applied pediatric nursing knowledge and skills on a global scale.

What We’re Building – And Who We Need
This micro-credential will be rooted in international standards for patient safety and pediatric health, making it a critical tool for role recognition and career mobility across borders. This project offers a unique opportunity to influence credentialing policy and educational equity in pediatric nursing on a truly global scale.
Additional Opportunities to Participate
More information about additional ways to participate such as course review and assessment item writing will be offered soon.
