With nearly 15 years of experience at the American Academy of Pediatrics, Mark D. Del Monte, J.D., has been appointed CEO/executive vice president (EVP) of the American Academy of Pediatrics. According to AAP president Kyle E. Yasuda, M.D., FAAP, Del Monte is “a longtime trusted leader within the organization” and has served AAP well during his year-long tenure as interim CEO.
NAPNAP’s health policy team has been working with Del Monte and AAP’s Advocacy and External Affairs team for more than a decade on federal legislation and regulation focused on improving children’s health and wellness. NAPNAP’s Federal Government Affairs Representative Dave Mason said “Mark has worked tirelessly to gain recognition and respect for the field of pediatrics in the halls of Congress and the executive branch.”
More recently, NAPNAP’s leadership has interacted with Del Monte regarding priority issues for our two organizations, including treatment of children at the border and ways that our organizations can expand children’s access to high-quality, evidence-based, affordable health care.
NAPNAP’s Executive Director Cate Brennan, MBA, CAE, added, “Mark has been a valuable partner to NAPNAP and I look forward to working with him to strengthen the relationship between NAPNAP and AAP and collaborate on new child health projects.”
