As part of our commitment to association management best practices, NAPNAP’s Membership Committee recently conducted an evaluation of our membership categories and benefits in comparison to those of our peer nursing organizations. As part of this review, the committee also considered feedback from current and past members regarding membership structure. The review found that while NAPNAP’s benefits meet or exceed those offered by similar organizations, most organizations have more streamlined membership structures.
Based on these findings, the Membership Committee presented its recommendations to NAPNAP’s Executive Board in March. Following careful consideration, the Executive Board voted to rename our largest membership category from Preferred Membership to Full Membership, a name that more clearly reflects the value and opportunities available to members and prospective members.
While the name is changing, members will continue to enjoy the same national- and chapter-level benefits at the same price. Additionally, retirees will still have access to Full Membership at their existing discounted rate.
Per the Executive Board’s direction, our Student Membership category will be renamed New APRN Student, allowing students in APRN programs to continue receiving the same benefits at the discounted rate for up to three years. APRNs enrolled in doctoral programs can opt for our Doctoral membership for up to two years.
Additionally, after carefully reviewing the Membership Committee’s recommendations, the Executive Board approved sunsetting the Essentials Membership category. This category offered limited benefits and often led to confusion among members. We are pleased to welcome Essentials members into Full Membership upon their next renewal, ensuring they receive the full range of NAPNAP benefits and opportunities.
