Learn About Submitting an Intensive Workshop Application
Intensive workshops (IWS) are sessions that provide skills training or may offer an in-depth review on a condition or topic during the main conference agenda or as a pre-conference or post conference event. These sessions allow for extensive interaction between the audience and the presenter, special equipment or hands-on opportunities for the participant. The deadline is July 31.
Intensive Workshop Application Questions
IWS presentation proposals must be at least two hours in length. Each person can only submit one application. To help you prepare, please find the the following information that you will need to include in your online IWS application:
- Presentation title (i.e. Name this Entry)
- IWS Description: Exactly what will be included in the course content, any hands-on opportunities, etc.? Why is an IWS the most appropriate approach for this session
- Proposed length of time needed for IWS
- IWS Summary: The IWS summary should be no more than 2-3 sentences and will be the summary of the session that will be printed in the conference brochure and appear on the website. Tell us why people should come to this workshop? What info/skills will they leave with? Who should not miss this workshop and why?
- Learning Objectives: Please list 3-5 learning objectives based on the length of the workshop. Please use verbs that reflect measurable behavioral objectives such as Define, Identify, Recognize.
- Speakers: Please list names and credentials of all speakers.
- Primary Speaker Biography: What makes you an expert and qualified to present on this topic? Please limit response to no more than 6 sentences.
- Speaking Experience: Please provide two references.
- Types of CE: Please select all that apply from the following:Pharmacology

- STUDENT – Master or Doctoral level student who has not yet entered the NP workforce
- EARLY CAREER – NP in the first few years of practice; Still learning APRN role and practice; Still developing competence and confidence
- SEASONED – Established APRN practitioner
- ROLE TRANSITIONING – Seasoned NP in their current practice setting but considering a transition to a new area of practice, or entering academia or research for the first time
- Audience Size: Please provide the suggested maximum number of registrants for the IWS.
- Minimum Audience Size:Please provide the minimum number of participants necessary to hold a successful workshop.
- AV Needs: Standard AV equipment includes a computer, LCD, screen and a podium microphone for a PowerPoint presentation. Additional requests are considered on an individual basis. Please provide any requested additional AV needs or write “standard AV”.
- IWS Equipment: Please include all details about necessary equipment for audience participation, including quantities. Examples: Models, wound supplies, special books, etc.
- Preceptors: Will preceptors be needed for the session? If yes, describe the preceptor role and needs and the preceptor/student ratio.
- Previously offered IWS
- Potential IWS Sponsors: Please list potential industry, pharmaceutical or other companies that might be interested in financially supporting the workshop or providing materials, supplies or equipment.

You’ll be forwarded to our abstract application system where you will need to enter your user ID/password to log in. Each person can only submit one application. It’s important to note that only the primary presenter will receive the speaker benefits.Â

Application Review Process
The Conference Planning Committee evaluates the applications through a peer-review process. The number of workshops selected depends on the conference schedule and the number and times of spaces allotted for the different types of workshops. The evaluation process takes place in late summer and presentation selection is usually completed by Sept. or Oct.Â
