Dr. Jessica Peck Introduced as President of the
National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners
One-year term began July 1, Rajashree Koppolu moves into immediate past president role.
NEW YORK, July 29, 2020 – The National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) is pleased to announce that Jessica Peck, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, CNE, CNL, FAANP has assumed the office of president of the association. In addition to serving as president, Dr. Peck is a member of our Health Policy Committee and serves as president for NAPNAP Partners for Vulnerable Youth.
“As part of the most disruptive innovation in 21st century healthcare, pediatric nurse practitioners have a calling to provide high quality, accessible, affordable care to the most vulnerable among us—our children,” said Dr. Peck. “I am proud to lead an organization of 9,000 dedicated pediatric health care leaders whose hard work is greatly impacting their local communities.”
Dr. Peck is an expert pediatric clinician, faculty scholar and anti-trafficking child advocate. She provides innovative, visionary and award-winning leadership to inclusive and diverse interprofessional teams in multiple arenas. In addition to her role as president of the association, Dr. Peck is currently a professor of nursing at Baylor University in Dallas. She holds active credentials as a pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP), a certified nurse educator and a clinical nurse leader. Dr. Peck has been a practicing PNP for nearly 20 years in multiple care environments, serving as the first nurse practitioner in three health care organizations.
Dr. Peck is a recognized and published national human trafficking expert. She served as founding chair of the Alliance for Children in Trafficking, a national campaign of NAPNAP Partners for Vulnerable Youth, where she works with other national organizations to equip health care professionals to combat child trafficking and advocate for other vulnerable youth populations. Dr. Peck is working with the Office of Trafficking in Persons to create a set of core competencies for health care professionals caring for trafficked individuals. She serves as the lead medical consultant for Unbound Houston and helped create statewide continuing education and successfully pass legislation mandating continuing education for all direct care providers in Texas.
“Dr. Peck is a visionary leader and dedicated pediatric health care provider,” said National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners’ Interim Executive Director James H. Wendorf. “We are fortunate to have her leading our association as we move forward in these challenging times and introduce new initiatives to positively impact children’s health.”
