Adolescent Health Care SIG

Developed in 2011, the purpose of the Adolescent Health Care Special Interest Group (AHC SIG) is to provide opportunities for increased awareness by all members of the NAPNAP organization and potentially increase membership by PNPs/NPs specifically interested in adolescent health care across different settings.

Adolescence spans the ages of 10-21, roughly half of childhood. Adolescents benefit from high-quality, developmentally appropriate health care and prevention strategies, and NAPNAP as an organization can benefit from focused attention to this age group by members who have adolescent interest and expertise.

  • "Teen Proofing" webpage - Developed in collaboration with the Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs SIG, this webpage includes common hazards for teenagers at home and what parents can do to prevent these accidents from happening. A two-sided, printable flyer is also available.
  • Listen to Adolescent Health SIG member Alison Moriarty Daley, PhD, APRN, PNP-BC, speak about cancer prevention and the HPV vaccine for kids 11 years and older.
