NAPNAP Revises Position Statement on Continuing Education

CHERRY HILL, NJ (December 16, 2011) The National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners’ (NAPNAP) Executive Board  approved a revised NAPNAP Position Statement on Continuing Education.

The Position Statement revision reinforces NAPNAP’s commitment to providing new opportunities for nurse practitioners (NPs) to obtain quality continuing education. It also acknowledges effective learning strategies such as distance and online learning.

NAPNAP is in full support and expansion of continuing education opportunities available to its members, the accreditation of educational programs, and recognition of quality continuing education programs from other professional organizations. NAPNAP also supports the voluntary accreditation of continuing education providers who wish to offer NAPNAP contact hours.

Health Care reform will undoubtedly place nurse practitioners in a unique position to service many families in both primary and specialty healthcare settings. “NAPNAP has an obligation to provide NPs with effective learning opportunities to stay current in their field which could lead to optimal health outcomes for patients” said Cheri Barber, DNP, RN, CRNP, NAPNAP President.
