Salary Survey Results

Question: I am sending in resumes for pediatric nurse practitioner positions in Ohio. One common question seems to be "What is your salary requirement?". What is the best answer for this question?

Answer: It is okay to write open or negotiable when asked about a salary requirement. However, it is important that you are familiar with the nurse practitioner salaries in the region you will be working. The following publications have posted the results of their salary surveys online: Advance for NP and The Nurse Practitioner. Both include recent salary data. In addition, you will want to have the figures for your salary history handy. If possible, try to defer discussion of salary issues to the interview if you can.
