NAPNAP, ACNP and NONPF Introduces new Director of Government Affairs
CHERRY HILL, NJ (September 14, 2010) - The NAPNAP Executive Board is pleased to announce that Dave Mason of Mason Consulting, LLC has been selected as the new Director of Government Affairs. He will serve as the primary contact for Congress, the Administration and federal regulatory agencies, and other advocacy interests on behalf of the American College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP), the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) and the National Organization of Nurse Practitioners Faculties (NONPF). The three organizations are working in collaboration to pool limited resources and expand and enhance the NP presence in Washington, DC and advance mutual Health Policy agendas. NAPNAP, ACNP and NONPF have a history of joint cooperation in related activities that benefit all three organizations in their complementary missions. This collaboration is guided by the principle ‘together we can accomplish more.’
Allison Shuren, JD, MSN, of Arnold and Porter, NAPNAP's current Washington representative since 2001 will transition to a volunteer leader role with NAPNAP's Health Policy program. We will continue the important and recognized work advocating for children's health, access, and federal PNP/NP role and scope of practice advancement. Allison Shuren will be available to work with Dave throughout this transition year and will serve in an advisory capacity to this collaboration.
Dave has over 20 years experience working on Capitol Hill and with health care professionals and national and state organizations. He earned his BA in political science from the University of Texas - Austin. His most recent assignment was Legislative and Policy Director at Main Street Alliance in Washington DC where he was responsible for creating and managing federal legislative and policy initiatives for a network of state-based coalitions formed as part of Health Care for America Now, the nation's largest health care reform campaign.
